I seen pictures of mormon congregations and never have seen black people or American Indians that should be indigenous to the Utah area.

Of course there are Native American Latter-Day Saints, and the LDS church is growing at an unbelievable rate on the continent of Africa. There are hundreds of individuals of African descent that become members of the LDS faith every single day throughout the world. In fact, are you aware that there are MORE LDS members OUTSIDE the United States than there is IN the United States.

Yes there are but after being treated as inferiors for so many years I don't understand why they would join such a church. Gladys Knight (and the Pips) is one black woman I can think of and I know there are American Indians, but not any famous.

The first missionaries were sent to the Indians. Before the Church went to Ghana there were hundreds that had taken it upon themselves to prepare for the missionaries. Thousands have since joined. There is now a temple there.
