There is a brand new form of oxycodone on the market called Opana ER. This is a long-lasting form of oxymorphone (a form of oxycodone). This will help in a few ways.

1) It will deliver a more consistent level of medication, and you only need to take it twice a day.

2) If you are becoming addicted, this will help to give you pain relief but not get quite as much of a buzz. The potential for abuse and addiciton is definetly there, but it's not quite as high as it is with a short-acting opiod.

With short-acting opiods (vicodin, lortab, percoset, etc) you get a potent shot of the drug. It takes effect fast, but it dies out fast too (usually within 2 hours). The longer acting opiods can help you with pain relief without the up and down effects.

Talk to your doctor, and good luck.

I used oxycodone after I had my second child, to recover from childbirth and also to help with some post-pardum stresses. It took my pain away and chilled me out and I LOVED IT. I was dangerously close to being addicted but my doc wasn't willing to continue it after I was all healed up and obviously waaaay too chipper to be needing the mental assistance. Recently I've had some upper back/neck issues and Aleve has worked wonderfully AND I have been going to the chiropractor who has improved my pain level tremendously. There's a lot of different things attributing to neck pain and the majority of your body is all connected in your spine. Try looking into it!

there are other options such as acupuncture, physical therapy, massage therapy, chiropractors, other meds. Doc should help you wean off the oxy, methadone is being used with success. Ultram is a med which is non narcotic which you maybe could take along with a muscle relaxer if doc says it's OK. Do not try to "intensify the effects of oxy".

I have a horrible chronic pain disease called RSDS. I have been on every kind of pain pill out there. When the nerves are involved controlling pain is not easy. I think if you are addicted you need to ween yourself off the meds. There are other things your doctor can do without using pain meds. he should have a PT consult and order an MRI. There may be reason why the pain in your neck is still there. Have you tried warmth?

please dont tell me that your hook. This is bad stuff and if you continue then overtime they will do nothing for you. If the pain is real, which I hope it is try to get in 20mg or even 40mg.

I dont mean to preach but I hope you get better before you get worse. I see people who have problems everyday (pharmacy)and its not good. Some of this people will never get better because they do not try to solve the problem but only mask them with pills.

Good luck

Drink a glass of wine with it, or take a 5 mg of methadone as a sidecar.

Personally though, i would prefer demerol or seroquel.
