Bank of America had a system glitch and my finance charge went from $6.74 to $224.03. All they could say was I'm sorry we had a glitch. This is how the credit card companies make it rich.

scott? Was it Bank of America? I am so livid right now. I have been on the phone for the past two hours. I have notified the local news and BBB. They sent me an offer I accepted and they say that the system just now caught up....this offer was sent to me in July !!!!!

I spoke with two managers tonight....again, all they could say was that they were sorry that there was a system glitch and that the promotional offer should not have been sent to me. Funny that didn't have any glitches until they posted a monthly payment and saw the balance transfer. Don't get me wrong I owe my debt but for them to extend and offer and then jack me for 200.00+ a month in finance charges???

Stop paying them. I did it and it worked.

I would go to a local bank branch and start there, usually they will try to resolve the matter locally. If that doesn't work, I would go after the actual credit card company (hopefully it's Visa) since they will open a fraud case on your behalf and research the hell out of the transaction until its resolved, usually in the consumer's favor. Being that I work for a large bank, I know the people at the "bottom" can never help, so you need to go for a VP or higher manager right off the bat. Also, it's not a good idea to close that account/card, since that will only harm your credit score, the debt will not go away, trust me. Hope that helps.

Make the credit card company get to the bottom of the "glitch". I would phone every day and ask for a supervisor. If you don't get satisfaction at that level keep going up the ladder. Someone should be able to sort it out but sometimes the underlings can't do anything.

If you feel you have been a victim of fraud, contact your State's Attorney General. You can file a complaint and they will follow-up.
