It is safe and helpful to sprinkle Metamucile over her food..Often a spoon of canned pumkin, mixed in her food, will aid in more comfortable bowel movements.
Dont feed a kibble or canned food with corn on the label..

Your veterinarian is the best person to answer that....especially if he/she recently saw your dog.

Hypoallergenic diets sometimes help...but NOT z/d. It has an extremely low fiber content, and often causes worse problems with BM's, especially in small dogs.

Higher fiber diets are often helpful.

But you shouldn't change the diet without first discussing it with your veterinarian, who knows the medical history and details of health about your pet that the rest of us don't.

Are you sure they're not currently infected/impacted/abscessed? You might need to take her back for a recheck, especially if it has been longer than a week or two.

If her anal sacs cause her chronic problems, they can be surgically removed...which will (*should*, barring complications) eliminate the problem permanently. Many of my clients say it's the best thing they've ever done. Ask your DVM about it.

a hypoallergenic diet. most are prescription. Z/D and IVD (Royal Canin) are probably the most common. Z/D consists of broken down protein so you pet doesn't react to it (that is what my dog is on). IVD is Novel protein, something your pet hasn't seen before (venison or duck). both are good, both are more expensive than store products
