Brush your teeth, this definetely helps suppress appetite. Also drink water if you feel like binging, this may just be your body saying it is thirsty.

I'm not an expert and I've never had the urge to binge eat regularly. I think if you stopped worrying about the binge eating, let go of the guilt and the feelings that you're a bad person, but didn't try to force yourself to stop, the actual binging, you'd take away its power over you and you won't feel the need to binge anymore.

Night time binging is a habit- and we know that breaking habits can be difficult. Here are some suggestions that might help you break this devastating habit:
1.) Rid your home of all snack foods, chips, crackers, ect. Get rid of all sugary treats. Replace these with fruit and vegetables. Do this for at least a week- if there's nothing interesting to eat, chances are it will be less appealing to you. If you must eat, it won't be long after eating high-fiber fruits and vegis that you will stop- you'll get full fast. Besides, who do you know that binges on fruit and vegetables? Usually binging takes place with comfort foods- high fat, salty, or sweet snacks. If it's not there to eat, you CANT eat it!
2.) Figure out what triggers this habit. Are you lonely? Stressed? Worried? Bored? Binging is often an emotional behavior, so sorting out issues that may be going on could help cure the problem.
3.) Make sure you're eating healthy during the day. If you skip meals, your body is going to try to make up for it at night. Eat 5-6 well-balanced healthy mini-meals per day. Make it a rule to eat at least 1 fruit or 1 vegi with every meal, no matter what the meal is. This way, you help to ensure your body is getting what it needs. If you have pizza, eat some carrot sticks or an apple too. Consider taking a multi-vitamin as well- your body could be craving missing nutrients.
4.) Drink more water during the day, but back off at night- if you are roused from sleep by the urge to pee, you might trigger your habit again.
5.) Perform 3-5 INTENSE cardio sessions per week. Studies have shown that intense cardio that continues for 20 minutes or more actually helps to surpress the appetite. (Not to mention that you'll lose weight and have more energy.)
6.) Break the cycle. If you find yourself waking up at night to eat, establish a way to distract yourself. Do something quiet, like read a book or magazine. Try to focus on relaxing and getting back to sleep. If you lose sleep at night because of this and often end up sleeping in to compensate, don't allow yourself to sleep in. Set your alarm for a certain time every day. Stick to it, even if you're exhausted from not sleeping much the night before. Eventually, you'll be so tired that you'll sleep the whole night through without waking up. Following a regular exercise program will also help you feel tired so you'll sleep through the night without getting up to eat.
I hope this helps. If you need further assistance, you may contact me at: www.fitnesspros4u.com

Binge eating is habitual. believe it or not -and- it is something that I struggled with for many, many years. When I was in radio, I was the mid-nite to 6 jock always and hence my "nite" time eating binges.
I found that drinking a 12 to sixteen ounce glass of water filled me up -and- I then noted that a lot of the weight I had gained, was dissipating! That was some 30 years ago and I still drink a glass of water before retiring to this day, I am; in fact; drinking my nite time glass as we speak. Good luck with it. I feel confident that one less caloric habit replacing another will work for you too. Thanx 4 the opportunity 2 share.

Why do you need to stop???? Just improve what you eat and you can continue to eat whatever time you want or you can eat more during the day and you won't be hungry at night. I eat all day everyday and it doesn't bother me one bit. I also train everyday twice a day so I can eat whatever and whenever I want. Make the choice to stop eating at night and it will stop, but you have to make the choice first. Don't surrender to your instincts. Control them and you can accomplish anything.
