First off in order to get into either one of these jobs you are going to have to be in GREAT shape. A lot of people prob wont believe my but some say that PJ training is the hardest in the military. Yes, harder then Navy seals. This is because the training is very long (close to 2 years) and on top of that you are constintly doing physical training while basically attending medical school.

Its a great job to get into but it takes a lot of work. Personally I wanted to get into AF Spec Ops but knew I didnt want to go the medical route so I chose TACP. We are the ones that live and work along side the Army and when they find them selves in trouble we are able to corrdinate with the AF in order to send an air strike in.....Its a great sight to see crap getting blown up after you have controlled aircraft and passed them the targets.

In the end its up to you but I am just partial to the AF cause Im in and all the rest of my family are in the AF.....

Good luck

Good for you!

I won't bore you here with my military service, you can check my profile and hunt down my other answers in this category if you want to know. But I did serve in the Navy and it was the best thing I could have done, I don't regret a bit of it. I saw the world, learned a very good trade, and made a man of myself.

Most of the options you have listed won't REQUIRE going to college first, but honestly you SHOULD get at least a year or two of college in before enlisting. You MUST have a High School diploma or a GED or they won't consider you at all, and they (like civilian employers) really prefer to see the real diploma instead of the GED. Some college opens up a lot more doors, both in the military and out of it.

To be a Navy fighter pilot you need to be an officer, which means you need to have a Bachelor's degree from college, and it SHOULD be in a technical field. Modern aircraft are astonishingly complex machines and they require real thinkers to operate them properly -- and military planes are the most complex and advanced of them all.

My cousin was a Navy SEAL, he loved it. It was VERY tough and demanding work, but he got to do things few people even dream of or think happen outside the movies. However, be warned -- it is VERY tough on the body as well as the mind, so you need to be tough as nails both physically and mentally.

I can't think of a more admirable goal than to be an Air Force PJ or a Coast Guard Rescue Swimmer.

Pay is fairly uniform for the services, each of the options you have mentioned includse some sort of bonus pay for hazardous or flight duty but keep in mind, military pay isn't all that much. But on the other hand, pretty much all expenses are covered.

Be sure to put money away into the GI Bill Educational Program, so that you can go to school to learn even more -- yopu may stay in the military or you may choose to return to civilian life, but either way you can always use more school and paying for it is a whole lot easier when Uncle Sam is kicking in $2 to your every $1.

For a 14 yr old you've got guts .
Your looking at some of the hardest , most dangerous jobs in the military .
You at least have 4 yrs to make up your mind and start training , body and mind .
Hit the school books , hard , learn all you can , good grades will help you get what you want . Those jobs require SMARTS to be concidered for training .

Go Coast Guard or Navy. If your grades are good and get a high SAT score you can apply to the Coast Guard Academy. It is the only military academy where you don't need a Congressional appointment.

I'm for the Coast Guard. Their job is to save lives.

Finally someone on answers with some guts. You mind me of when I was14. Thank God, not everybody is like K-fed.
Coast Guard seems like the place for you http://www.uscg.mil

Rescue swimmer is a hard but need job. Like the new movie "the Guardian" it about saving folks more than dropping bombs. They have there own military academy in New London, CT. It runs in the same way West Point & Air Force work. The Enlisted Basic training school is in Cape May ,NJ.

Hope your a good swimmer?

Okay ... these are apparently the qualifications and schools you'll need to be an Air Force PJ:

Training attrition rates are in excess of 80%, which is astonishing. The training pipeline is TWO YEARS LONG.

It sounds like you've watched that Kevin Costner/Ashton Kutcher movie "The Guardian" and been influenced to try your hand. Good luck if you're persistent. You're 14; you don't know any better than to think everything is possible and aren't really aware of the responsibilities of any of the professions you mentioned or what it costs to get there. You're in for one hell of a reality check.

your 14 you dont know what you want now. pararescue is one of the most strenuous jobs. you have to be extremely tough mentally and physically. meaning if you want it you better start running and lifting weights NOW. if you want one of those jobs more then likely you will not have time to go to college, always being deployed. dont worry about the pay you only get a LITTLE extra for that. stay in school get a degree first and enlist as an officer you'll be happier.
