Shingles in a child is called chicken pox. Chicken pox is a relatively harmless virus in children. Now an adult can get chicken pox which can be very dangerous. Shingles is just a more severe virus. Very painful and could be very dangerous as well. There really are no precautions to keeping your child away from chickenpox. Matter of fact your child is better off getting chickenpox early on so she can get it out of the way. Once you have had chickenpox you can not get it again. BUT you can still contract shingles when you are an adult even if you had chickenpox as a kid.

Children just get chicken pox if they have not already gotten it. If your child already had chicken pox, then he is safe unless his immune system is very compromised. If your child has not gotten chicken pox yet, keep them away from daddy just now and add a multivitamin. Because the virus is related, it is a good precaution, although somewhat unlikely.
People only get shingles if their immune system is QUITE low. This can be caused by sleep deprivation, lack of essential nutrients, stress, not enough relaxing time, etc... Therefore, take steps to fix all these problems for daddy. A person with shingles should be taking off work to rest, sip juices and soups, watch comedy films, take a multivitamin, play board games, temporarily give up bad habits, etc... All things should be done for them. They should be like a baby in a cradle. Give them tasty "superfoods" drinks from the health food section of the grocery. I recommend "Naked Fruit" brand.
Doctors are absolute morons when it comes to diagnosing shingles! They will tell you that only the elderly or seriously ill AIDS patients get them. All it takes is a low immune system, and that is not something you can really SEE or have terrible symptoms.
The way some get rid of the sores quicker is by putting hydrogen peroxide on them using little cotton squares. The high concentration of oxygen in hydrogen peroxide creates an environment that will not allow a virus to replicate. It will not make them go away, but will keep them clean and keep them smaller. Patches left on the skin for 60 seconds will do. Longer than this may cause irritation. It is an inexpensive and quick home remedy. Discontinue if there is any irritation or extreme discomfort.
Bandages will only cause the sore to heal more slowly. You want the shingle sores to be clean and dry at all times. You do not want any scarring.
He may get post herpetic neuralgia, which is a tiny sharp pain like a pin prick at the site of old shingle sores. This can be brought on by stress. If he gets this in the future well after the sores are gone, the cure is simply to relax.

I had Shingles for the first time a few weeks ago. I am normally in good health and haven't had any other health challenges before, so it came as a surprise.
Shingles is probably the most painful thing I have ever encountered. I went to the doctor, and he gave me some prescription drugs to take that was suposed to help, but didn't.
My wife found the Fast Shingles Cure ebook online and bought it for me, I am very lucky to have such a wonderful woman in my life. We followed the book, did what it said, and it delivered what it promised. Finally my Shingles rash is over... I feel truly blessed and thankful.

You can't 'give' someone shingles so to speak.
When you have the chicken pox, even after you're 'cured', since it's a virus it's in your system forever. It actually lays dormant in your nerve root.
Some time later, the virus can become reactivated, but it's local, not systemic like chicken pox.
You get the rash along the nerve path which is why it shows in strips on one side of your body (or one side of your face/neck)
It's caused by a weakened immune system, which is why a lot of elderly or auto-immune patients get it.
But you can't cause someone else's virus to become reactivated. The only risk is to a person who has never been exposed to the original virus (chicken pox) and even then, it's not common to pass on.
Nowadays, children are vaccinated for it, so if your daughter had the vaccine or the chicken pox, she should be covered.
The doctors will probably just give him calamine lotion or another topical cream to ease the discomfort, but as far as 'treating' him, all they can do is treat his symptoms, not the actual virus, like when you get the cold or flu.

You can only get them if you have gotten chicken pox before. Me I have never had chicken pox, so my chances of getting shingles are extremely extremely low. The only thing u can do is prevent your child from having contact with the rash and disinfect around the house well

Shingles is a virus, so covering it up doesn't keep people from getting it. It is caused by the chicken pox virus being in your body from having them yourself. Stress can cause them to break out in the form of shingles. My son got them whe he was 20 and in college. It is said that once you get them they can reoccur. They are also extremely painful even after the rash is gone. My son had them almost 2 years ago and where he had them still hurts sometimes.

make sure your child does not put her hands on or near it....there may be a bandaid on it, but it can still be transmitted. i had shingles for the first time when i was in 3rd or 4th grade. i had already gotten chicken pox, but shingles is a different strain or something along those lines. your husband will probably have an "outbreak" every few months or maybe only a couple times a year. it can be triggered by stress or certain foods. when this happens, make sure to keep your kids hands and face away from it and make sure your hubby washes his hands before touching your kid.

Talk to the Doctor tomorrow. Your husband got shingles because at some point in his life he either had or was exposed to chicken pox. He may get them once or it may be something that comes and goes throughout his life. They will probably have an ointment for you to put on him and may even start him on something by mouth to help. Ask about your daughter, then. Good luck!
