To Lucy... if you Mexicans are all SOOO smart and SOOO strong, then you should be using your smarts and strength to REBUILD YOUR OWN COUNTRY, not coming here illegally. The fact that Mexicans would rather come here illegally instead of trying to improve Mexico shows a lack of national pride. They are attracted only to the almighty dollar, not to making Mexico a better place to live.
To answer the question, however... the answer is no. Rather than build a wall to keep people out of the US, what needs to be done is consistent enforcement of the laws we currently have on the books. Or going in the other direction, create a coalition similar to the European Union (which is currently in the works, from what I've heard), where people can move freely between the countries. No matter what, a wall is a bad idea. Plus, considering how slow the US government operates, it would take forever to build, and therefore its effectiveness would be limited in the current generation.

YES!!! If the Mexicans were honest, good people they would come here legally and respect our country..... but instead they sneak in, have a bunch of kids they can't afford- we pay for- in a hospital they can't afford-we pay for- In the Los Angeles area they take over & trash the neighborhoods they live in filling the streets with garbage & couches, yards made of dirt & clothes hanging everywhere. The crime rates are soaring in the areas they have taken over.... carjackings, shootings, drugs, gangbangers. They have taken over the schools, the hospitals & the jails...filling them up, bringing them down, sucking off the system.... And people say they are contributing to society???
It costs us more money fighting the crime, cleaning their streets,
providing health care for their families, trying to educate their kids whose parents usually don't speak English. And now they are screaming for their right to be here???? You break into our country & start demanding rights??? Respect our country...respect our laws....respect our language....then maybe we'd be a little more understanding. There is a legal way to enter this country, many people do it, why is it fair for you to ignore it & jump in front of the line before them? How fair is that ?? People are saying "oh they're just decent people trying to have a better life" Fine, they should be decent people & come here for a better life the legal way, until then they are criminals.....why do people ignore that fact?? Hence the word "ILLEGAL immigrants"

I laugh every time I hear someone suggest building a big wall.
Who is going to build it? This is a pretty big undertaking. We'll have to choices: High priced union contracts (with clauses against subcontracting) or cheap labour somewhere. Now whenever something big has been built in America, like railroads, migrant labour was brought in. Could a fence that big be built economically without bringing in migrants?

Well, the question you seem to be asking is "Shouldn't we have a wall to protect our country against illegal immigrants?" There is only one problem with such as statement, and that is that it assumes that illegal immigrants often do not reach our country through crossing the border. In fact, the article I referenced states that the majority of illigal immigration is through overstaying visas. So, in my opinion, if we really want to curb illigal immigration, we should do it through a guest worker program and a reform of the visa program, including an increased amount of funding to help stop abuses of the immigration system. My two cents.

If the U.S builds a wall or a fence to keep illegals out, what's to say it won't be built to keep the U.S citizens in?Like the Berlin wall before it came down,or the great wall of China. Those walls were built to keep the people in against there will.If it is built the U.S citizens will be subject to communist rules. Is that what we want?I don't.So i say no to the fence or wall.

okay look we Mexicans can do about anything go ahead and built any fence u want no matter it if goes 10,000 miles up in the air we will find a way. we are smart and strong. we Mexicans are not building anything to keep Americans out of our country. if you guys to built a fence its only gonna make things worse. gas prices might go up cause its not free so built a good fence but i mean there are alot of mexicans serving in the u.s.a army, airforce, millatray, all kinds of things trying to help out the united states so why should u guys wanna stop us from crossing over there. i understand theres alot of bad mexicans that go to do other stuff but at the same time theres A lot of white people that are bad aslo. i mean it comes off my tax money and your tax money to built that fence.

no,this whole talk about immigration and building more borders is just gone too far, most of these people that have been crossing the border illigally are normal and decent people looking for a better life, i have asked myself this question over and over "why doesnt the president of mexico do anything?" and i live in a place where i see immigants getting taken back to mexico everyday and its such a sad thing that you people have no symathy for them it shouldnt have to be where you came from or what your race is,yes i know there are some bad people that only try to come across for drugs and violence but not all of them and thats what you have to realize that not all of them are the same give these ppl a chance im sure if you were in their situatution you'd be dying for help so why not try to make a difference instead of talking about shutting these ppl out!
