How do I unpack a corrupted executable?

I know that by going to the "Run" dialog and typing the file location followed by /**** (the asterixes are letters I cannot remember) you can overide .exe corruption error messages and unpack the .exe file. I cannot remember what those letters are, can anyone help me? Or does anyone know another way of unpacking a corrupted .exe?

try dowloading it again. It's still a risk if it opens. It might not be in the proper format.
