That is one reason... That is the purpose of the book of John more specifically. Obviously, different books of the Bible have different purposes. What in the world were the Chronicles written for? To document for us the history of lineages. It proves that the Bible is not just a collection of fables, but real people lived and existed in real places on earth, proving the authenticity of the Scriptures. In a roundabout way, it is so that we will believe and have life through Jesus Christ. How about the Timothys? They were written with specific exhortations to a pastor[s] of churches. Why did they pastor? So that the believers would be exhorted to expand the Kingdom in their areas of influence. In a roundabout way, it's purpose is to have people converted to the truth.
The ultimate purpose of the Scriptures?
To bring glory to God by:
* Showing us the way to Christ (Gal. 3:24)
* Removing the unbelievers excuse for his unbelief (Rom. 1:18-19)
* Edifying and building up the Bride of Christ
Hope this helps!
Booyakasha!

Yes. The New Testament was written to document the life of Christ and the early Church. Luke thoroughly researched his material for the Gospel of Luke and Acts. The Gospel of John was an eye witness account. The Old Testament points to Christ. There are references to Him in every book.

Well...the whole Bible wasn't about Jesus, and was around for thousands of years before him. So, I would have to say no.

Don't tell the trinitarians. They will have to add to that scripture to change the meaning.
