You can goto the tax and title office and do a search on it. It will cost you a few bucks (like 5 to 10) and you have to fill out a paper in a book showing that you (photo ID required) had requested information to the tag. This is public information and you are paying for a processing fee and providing information about yourself in case you decide to seek this vehicle for reasons other than legal recourse.
