If we are only on this earth for approx. 70 years why are some people not concerned, or make light of where they will be for eternity? You may say I don't believe, but you have chosen to put yourself in a place of torment for eternity. why? God is love and He is giving you every chance to receive Him why wouldn't you. Some day when you stand before the seat of judgement your theories are not going to get you to a place of peace. Which leads to my question you would have every thing to gain and nothing to loose. Personally, I rather believe then take my chances.

God's Gospel:

"For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;" Romans 3:23

"For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." Romans 6:23

"But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16

"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." Romans 10:9-10

For every single day of my life since infancy has been a mass of sadness and pain- to give up my beliefs over the fear that this imaginary myth known as satan will torment me forever in a place called hell, because i had no faith in god, neither jesus, nor
heaven - listen o.k. today, yesterday, tomorrow hurts me so bad so if i lose my "soul" to satan so be it!!!!!!!!id rather of been 100 percent against any religon than a tenth of a percent for it!!!!!!plus all you christians that say, "i'd rather believe than take my chances", is that not in some way false belief?i hear alot of you say that! the christian God was created by man, thousands of years ago for the purpose of overcoming fear of death, and because of other religons that were formed before! a small group of people with a big dream, turned millions into believers with false hope!

You say "... or make light of where they will be for eternity? " and "God is love" and "Some day when you stand before the seat of judgement"

Why do you believe what happens to be wrriten in some 'holy' book. Man kind created ALL of these concepts.. they are nothing more than concepts. The word of god? - try the word of delusional men.

Thanks for the offer, but believing in a 'god' which was created by man kind... sounds a bit too superstitious for my liking...

Have you tried worshipping cats and burying your dead in pyramids? Now thats a *proper* religion.

I personally find that basing my life around my family, friends and reality works for me :-)

"seat of judgement" - what ARE you on about??

I don't think you are going to convert many people by simply implying that they should believe so that God does not punish them for eternity.

Believing in God should be about what He provides for you right now. If a person surrenders to God, he/she receives peace, strength, wisdom, and a compassionate heart.

I am not sure what will happen after I die. But the Father I believe in is not asking me to follow Him because he wants me to go to Heaven; He's asking me to follow Him because by doing so I receive so much, and with all that He gives me I find the energy and passion to try to make the world a better place.

peace

That is an absolutely ridiculous reason to believe in a god. You're reason for believing in god is that your scared of what might happen if you don't. Well I've heard that there's a boogie man in your closet, and if you don't double check your closet every night before you go to bed, and leave a night light on he's going to get you.
Are you going to check your closet every night?
Basically what your saying is that your all loving god is using fear of torture to motivate the masses to do what he wants us to do, even though he himself supposedly gave us freewill. That sounds kinda like the definition of a terrorist to me.

Feel free to waste your whole life trying to please your wonderful creator. Let the rest of us live in peace with out your pointless preaching.

Your argument for belief is the very essence of a faulty belief system - you adopt it because it's all about preservation of the self -- making sure that you cover all your bases to avoid the negative repercussions and gain the rewards. This is not religion; it's magic and makes god into a horrible and terrible being. Think about it.

Actually you do have something to loose and your post is a good example.

You would like me to believe that, in an infinite universe, we have 2 lives (one 70 year life and one eternal life).

I know you don't see it this way, but I just can't believe that. With all due respect, it makes no sense to me.

According to your argument I am suppose to believe in something that makes no sense to me *just in case* it might be true.

To me, that is a sin. Believing in something I do not believe to be true is a lie imposed on my own psyche.

You are asking me to sin.

I hope that is clear.

So god will be fooled by my belief? WHen I choose to believe on the off chance that he might exist? Like hedging my bet? He can't tell the difference between that and real faith?

I totally agree with you. We have nothing to loose by believing...
However, I don't believe in God. And it is not because I don't want to believe in God. It would sure be nice to believe in something. I just can't believe. It all seems crazy to me. If I was to believe just because I have nothing to loose, would that be true faith? No...it would be a mask of faith, when in reality I still could not believe, and therefore I would still end up in hell...because I don't really believe. I just am pretending.
So I must say, if that is why you believe...that is the dumbest reason ever. And doesn't convince a person like myself to believe...so please find another reason. Because I don't want to believe in something only because I have nothing to loose. I want to believe in it because I know it's true.

what i have noticed is ....alot of atheists and stuff is on here asking questions , they may be mocking but i think that is God working through them or else they wouldn't bother
