He was a direct decendent from King David. That makes him a king. But the true heir to the thrown could not be revealed to Israel for generations because of the enslavement of the people of Israel. If the true heir to the thrown of the King of Israel would have made himself known to be the heir to the thrown, they would be killed by the one who was an unrightful ruler over Israel. That's why King Herod wanted Jesus killed because he had heard that Israel had a king, and that made Herod feel threatened because he knew that he was not a true king.

Proof that Joseph was a king is given in the bible in the first chapter of Matthew where the geneology is drawn from King David to Joseph the carpenter. So I didn't make this up.

Your point is truly meaningless. Joseph was Jesus' legal father, but by that time there were probably several thousand people who traced their genealogy through David.

No not a King but a possible heir to the throne. there are others before him in the line of succession for the title.

If the true lineage had been maintained on the throne he also could have been the brother or cousin I think.
