I have a friend, more of an ex-gf, who has become involved with someone who is involved in drugs and already has a court date pending. I'm concerned for my friend's safety and future if her involvement becomes more and more profound(right word?). Does anyone know of a Bible verse that could help her?

I'm afraid I'm not very educated in religion, and I'm paying the consequences when I'm in need of God's help the most, so any help is greatly appreciated.

Pass along Matthew 6. Jesus talks a bit in that chapter about so many things that we worry about, but how if we seek God first, He will put everything in our lives in their proper place.

If you have any questions about God that maybe I could help you work through, feel free to drop me a line at chad@jesusfreak.com. I hope all goes well with your friend. Keep us posted.

Here's 3:
11:5 And all the firstborn in the land of Egypt shall die, from the first born of Pharaoh that sitteth upon his throne, even unto the firstborn of the maidservant that is behind the mill; and all the firstborn of beasts.
11:6 And there shall be a great cry throughout all the land of Egypt, such as there was none like it, nor shall be like it any more.
11:7 But against any of the children of Israel shall not a dog move his tongue, against man or beast: that ye may know how that the LORD doth put a difference between the Egyptians and Israel.

Oh and a 4th:
2:30 In vain have I smitten your children...

Yes. The bible says to NOT be UNequally yoked to an unbeliever/non following christian(non christian at all that is).
so.......She needs to UNDERSTAND that: agreeing with the actions of this person "COULD" wind her up in the catagory the bible warns about below...HERS/HIS OWN ETERNAL SOUL IS AT RISK.....AT THE LEAST. Let alone bad things that acompany drugs.
Rev 21:7 He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.

Rev 21:8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

I'm an atheist, so I don't know about bible verses. But perhaps you could let her know that someone who is truly, very dependent on drugs (not just a mild pothead or anything) is not entirely in sync with reality. Deep addictions separate a persons mind from the real world. It is very difficult to have intimate relationships with that person because their addictions are their relationships.

I'm not really sure how blunt you want to be. 1 Cor. 15:33-34 doesn't leave much room for interpretation, here's the NIV--

33Do not be misled: "Bad company corrupts good character." 34Come back to your senses as you ought, and stop sinning; for there are some who are ignorant of God—I say this to your shame.

The second part of 34 might not be the best thing to add. Continue to pray for her. There are some good resources on biblegateway.com too, might wanna check it out.

Well the thing is, if your friend is a Christian there are a lot of verses that can give her encouragement in a time of trouble. But if she is not, then the only hope you can give her from the Bible would be in the form of turning to Jesus and becoming a daughter of God.

"And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.

What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things? Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth. Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.

Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:28-39
