I'm agnostic and my family is Christian. They always try to convert me but also kids at school tell me I'm going to hell because I don't beleive in God. So I ask, why does it even matter? Why not leave me alone?

Let the others talk they are made for that.

Your parents are trying to convert you as they believe you will go to hell, and they cannot accept that. It makes them sad, and all parents would do like yours. I can tell you that by experience...

But don't worry. Don't be even aggressive to them. Just keep your calm and refuse to show them that you are sorry of being agnostic by accepting conversion without your will. Be steadfast in everything you want in live. It's yours, not others.

The power of the myth over the power of reason is almost universal. I don't think they would appreciate you turning around and shooting down every reason they have for believing, and I'm not encouraging you to do so. You can tell them it's not a topic open for discussion. If they persist, you can walk away or simply change the subject to recent television shows, meals, events at school, bands you like, or start making fart sounds with your arm pit. Anything to bring an end to the harassment.

Numero uno. Hell does not exsist. So don't worry. It actually says it in the Bible, i'm not making this up. Sheol and Gihenna are in the Bible and there are simply burial places for the dead. The Hebrew she'ohl´ and its Greek equivalent hai´des, which refer, not to an individual burial place, but to the common grave of dead mankind; also the Greek ge´en·na, which is used as a symbol of eternal destruction. Okay! Numero dos. The Bible indicates sings of "the last days, critical times hard to deal with". And they are all happening and getting worse eveyday. You can surely see that in your own country, city, neighborhood and household that things are indeed getting worse. There are natural disasters happening all of the earth in places where their used to be none. There is more famine and war. All these foretold in the Bible. So, your parents know that God will soon but all badness to an end and destroy Satan and his wicked demons. They want you to be protected. They want you to be on God's side. So he will spare you at Armagedon.

I don't know. Is it possible that you are somehow prompting the subject. Sometimes when one is being called, there is great pressure to at least investigate the possibility. If you truly wish to be left alone, avoid the subject and learn to walk away. In your family setting that may be difficult, but it can be done. Remain calm. Make your case intelligently. I think you are feeling pressured because there is a calling; but you are the only one who can know that. I wish you well.

It's a tenet of the Christian faith to save the souls of nonbelievers and are compelled to do so. My King James Bible says that whoever believes in Him shall have eternal life. Those who don't will just perish. It doesn't say anything about that sending you to Hell. I'd advise you to thank them for their concern for your soul, but it's your choice to believe what you believe. I also advise that you keep an open mind. There are choices other than the Judao-Christian definition of God and no God at all.

I think it's because they believe it's their moral obligation. They set aside the fact that others have different beliefs and refuse to hear that life could possibly contain anything opposite of what they perceive to be the truth. Live by your own convictions and truth, that is where you'll find your happiness.

Because people don't know any better. It's YOUR life; tell them (politely) "I'm happy with what I believe..." - and walk away. The fact IS: people who are secure in their faith- don't go hounding others to change theirs. They RESPECT others beliefs- and live their own. Faith is a VERY personal thing. Don't let ANYONE tell you that yours (whatever it is- or isn't) is wrong. NOBODY alive has the right to pass that judgement on anyone else.

Because they honestly think tha tyou will go to hell. But don't worry cause they are going to the science dungeon (the hell for all non-believers that everything that science says is right, especially if it contradicts religion) when they die.

Just be open, but be honesta s well. Maybe just let them know that you are both equally happy with your own beliefs, and you don't need to be told otherwise. They'll probably understand, just be honest and open with them. Good luck, buddy.
