'm buying a car tomorrow, or want to anyways. I am a 21 female. I am paying cash for it and it seems like a good deal. 96 jeep cherokee, 160000 miles, great looking for 2000. I don't have a man to go with me. WHat should I do? Is it okay if I go by myself? Just take it over to a mechanic? DO I need to make an appointment with the mechanic first? And then take it back and let him know I wish to buy it? Help please.

take it to him first. tell them you have to or you can't buy it. some will say that's high miles but if it has the 4.0 inline six engine, it's just getting broken in. make sure you have the mechanic check the trans. fluid, and if it's not black, it sounds like a good jeep to me.

Check with the mechanic to see how much it costs to look it over and when to bring it. It's probably better to have another person go with you to look at the car and feel safer about having that much cash.

The person might be attempting to sell the vehicle because of a bad engine, bad transmission, or another MAJOR problem.

Yes! definitely let a good mechanic take a good look at it. He should inspect it as if he were buying it himself. You can expect some things to be wrong with a 10 year old ride.
