Make her a nice intimate meal for the two of you to share. Discuss all the fond memories you have of the times you shared together. Take her to a spa and have manicures and pedicures done together. Take her to her favorite place and have her tell you the story behind it? Do ANYTHING to make more pleasant memories for the both of you. If there is things that need to be done around her house and she can no longer do them, do them for her, it will be a relief to her that that task is finally done. Make her a birthday cake...her favorite kind of cake. Just spend time with her....spending time with her is precious then any gift you can buy her!

TIME WITH YOU!!! At that age, most people don't need material things--they'd rather have the love of their family around them. Take her to dinner, to a park, go over to play cards or checkers or have coffee...anything that involves conversation and enjoying each others' company. If you would like a tangible gift to go with it, consider something practical like stationery and stamps, or gift certificates to restaurants, beauty salons, etc. if she's still active and likes to go out. Most older people are on fixed incomes and don't have room in the budget for splurges. Let her know that you love her and think she's important. Another cool gift I've seen is a guided journal that asks questions about a person's childhood and experiences that gives them space to record their memories...it would be a gift that gives back to you and your family someday. Depending on her eyesight, etc. you may need to have her dictate the answers to you...again, another good chance to spend time together. Happy Birthday to your grandmother!!

We just had my Gr Ma's 90th and with some 30+ people in attendance, the card my children made with a memorable picture of them with Grma at the Fire Station brought happy tears and the longest hug :-). We adults(4 Grandchildren) got her a beautiful combination of Blue Topaz jewelry we were pleased to give, and she smiled. Remember the Love. Happy B'day to Gr'ma

Do a collage of photos of all her family throughout their lives or of her life from when she was young. I think at 90 something like this means more to them than anything else.

Buy her a pair of slippers. They have very soft slippers that you heat slightly in the microwave. You take out the insert in them, pop them into the microwave for 30 seconds, put the inserts back in and you have very warm feet!
