Are you are talking of taking like a section out of the lung itself for cancer ? If so it is done by cutting and going to the lung and dissecting that area of the growth and possibly any tissue around it that looks suspicious. If you are going to or its a possibility of you having surgery please have your doctor or nurse go over this with you and explain the procedure to you so you fully understand . Good luck
