No you can not play this song on WMP. It's a different format. You need to convert it somehow.

Burn it to a CD then rip it back off that cd. or find a software converter that will remove the copy protection.
Apple has been sued once, though I don't know how that turned out. (over this.) because it severely limits people. It is actually being argued right now over whether or not DRM is legal. It's still in debate. But apple is certainly skirting very close to the same problems Microsoft experienced recently by forcing people to use Ipods with Itunes and vice versa.
