Worchestershire sauce is sauce from the shire of worchester. Worchester is, throughout the UK, pronounced wuss-ter. Ergo, Worchestershire is pronounced wuss-ter-shar.

Pronouncing the 'ch' in chester is not correct, as in wor-ches-ter-shar.

It is just one of those quirks of English spelling and entirely understandable if one lives in California and is staring at an odd brown bottle with a long-**** name on it.

Just like it looks. "wurrster shear". It was invented in the Shire of Worcester in England. The only difference is where in the country you are from or if your from England where it came from. There is a racist joke of how it got it's name. Unfortunately we have become so politically correct I can't repeat it.

A-1. . .and while you're at it, could you bring me some Lea&Perrins, too?

All joking aside, I pronounce it "wust-ter-sheer."

The most common pronunciation is like:
wush-ter-sheer. Can't say if that's the correct original pronunciation.
