My feelings are more to the publice school but home school can be good for the children as long as it has a structure. Public school offers more structured environment for learning if the Parents who are teaching the Studen do a structure environment then Home School is fine.

I agree that they need the socializatiion but some students will thrive more in home school because of the one on one attention they get. Public schooling doesn't offer this.

What it really boils down to is 1 - how committed are the parent's and the children to the learning process.
2 -Are the schools teaching what u want your child to learn?
3 - Ensure that you have a structure a set time when they learn.

All this talk about socialization is lost on me. A child needs to learn what they will need to survive. Public school is a mixture of so many elements you can not protect your children from. If you can get your children involved in other activities that allow them to engage socially with the type of people you want your children around that would be great.

Schools are for the masses not a specific child. You can do better for your child if you really apply yourself. If you can home school than do it.

Just go look at the kids at public schools and the way they behave and dress etc. Choose what you want your child exposed to.

I can assure you that the kids who have the best chance of a good life have parents who monitor what their children are exposed to. Don't think they need to be exposed to the ridiculous stuff that goes on in public, or private schools to be well adjusted. Good parenting is the key to healthy children, not exposure to the masses.

You don't need to know everyone to excel at something. You need guidance and affirmation of your talents and desires. Public school is great for some but horrible for others, do you want to rill the dice with your children? If you can home school do it, but do it well.

Watched the news lately? First of all with home school you can get just as much socialization as any public schooled child. There are many co-ops for homeschoolers that meet regularly. You can do activities with your child- such as seeing museums, going on trips. Make the world your schoolroom. You either have to be a hermit or very anti-social to have a child who is not social. High schoolers are very cruel and unforgiving. Why send your precious child to a place where they have to go through a metal detector? Plus you have control over what the child will be taught. So just give it a thought.

I can understand why people home school their children because they want to provide their kids with a stronger education and hold their children closer to their values. In theory, those are really great reason - but I have known so many family over the years who home school and I have never seen it done well. Some issue in the family seems to suffer.

I think public is better than homeschooling - but the best scenario would be a private (religious/Christian) school if you are fortunate enough to be able to pay your tax bill and private tuition!

Finally, I think most home school children are very respectful and mature kids. (Most) And I don't think social skills are a problem, because alot of parents have them socialized in other ways.

i think homeschooled is great because you get a great education but then again you don't get to see your friends during it and public school is great too cause you get to see your friends and and have some fun personally since i AM homeschooled i get a better education than most of the kids in the highschool because i am not distracted by passing note back and forth whispering and talking to each other face to face cause that's what i had to deal with during middle school and also there is alot of disapline in the middle school but its only for the little stuff here at home i can chill and hang out without being disturbed or disaplined
i really hope that helps you

Public school without a doubt. Socialising with other children from different backgrounds is extremely important for a child's emotional, intellectual and social development. Home schooling has it's merits (esp. if you're a particularly protective parent) however the child will not get the stimulation it needs as part of the maturation process.
They can be socialised with other children outside of home schooling but these would largely be of the parents choosing. For a child to develop independence and to grow properly they must be allowed to choose thier own social groups and make thier own mistakes. Not to mention the fact that in public school they would be taught by a variety of professionals. Each with thier own experiences and talents to bring to the classroom.
With everything that has been happening lately I don't blame you for wanting to keep a child away from a potentially dangerous school environment. However, I personally don't see home schooling as being entirely healthy for a developing child.

Home schooling can give better knowledge, but public school is needed to be able to deal with people in social settings. Public school with parental input at home could be the best way to go.

School is as much about social interaction as education. Public schools allow that interaction that is essential for social growth and development. I've observed some kids that are home schooled and they appear well balanced, but socially are really lacking in basic knowledge of how to interact, even though they are active in church. But real life is a lot more than school work and church; that's why many of the very very rigid religious orders, such as Amish and Mennonites, are losing their young people once they reach adulthood.
