Your lungs are just achin! They're probably getting used to not having the nicotine.
It's a short-lived side effect of quitting,(go figure!). Happened to me as well, and I also had mild pains while I did smoke.
Now there's nothing. And I too smoke the good stuff sometimes.
Your lungs will heal. You'll breathe easier, deeper. Things will smell great ( or worse, depending!).
Keep up the hard work, I know it takes a lot to give it up cold turkey. But don't give up! You Can Do It!
I smoked for 10 years, since I was 14. About a pack a week also. I've quit now since January. My inspiration? Paying 10 bucks for a pack.! I used just small hits of herb a couple times a day to calm the withdrawls. Worked, and NO I'm not a crack addict!
Stay the course!

Ok not to be an alarmist here & yes I understand you are only 19 but I am still going to ask. In what way does your chest hurt?
I agree it is most likely your body detoxing itself. However since you have been smoking for about 5 years you should not complete discount the idea that is could be a heart related issue and need attention. Or it could be the beginning of a cold or pnemunia. A cold would not be a big deal as you know but pnemunia can be. If the problem worsens tonight then you may want to check with your doctor to be on safe side.
Congrats on quitting. Now is the time to do it. I have been trying to quit for some time and am successful for a while but seem to always go back to it. I have been a smoker for over 20 years.
Ok the mom in me is going to lecture for a moment but only for a moment and not very much. Please try to kick the pot habit also. While true no one may have died directly from the pot, pot smokers have killed people just like drunk drivers. So please quit for everyone's sake.
Ok done now. Keep up the good work.

First of all, switching to pot is not a smart move at all. If in fact that is it and not something else extremely hardcore (crack). But otherwise, your lungs are going thru withdrawl, just deal with it for now, it will go away. Unless what you switched to is doing more damage than the cigarettes. Use your brain, and re-evaluate why you quit smoking cigarettes, only to switch to something else? What is happening is your body is healing itself from the abuse the lungs have been taking for some time now. I am very happy you decided to quit smoking cigarettes, and there are plenty of other things you can do with the money you will save. But give it time, you might have very strong cravings, but they will pass. One easy way is to suck on something hot, like cinnamin gum or Fireballs when you get a craving. I also suggest a product called "Clear Lungs". You can get it at GNC. It is a natural product that helps get the mucus and buildup out of your lungs. Very good stuff. Hope this helps. Also drink A LOT OF WATER!!! This will help your body detox itself and rid yourself of nicotine. Good luck!

Yes the pain with go away, "the Good Stuff" now is not physically addictive as tobacco is.
But ( yeah you knew there would be a a but).........
The Resins or tar (that sticky stuff on BAB) of the amount it would take to fill one white Ziggy has the same tar (H.G. can also have chemicals introduced during growing, esp. if grown in a hydro-ponic system)effects on the lungs as 1/2 pack of Marbolo Reds.
This is actually the substance that causes damage to lungs!
But..........I know another but!
Nicotine has a systemic effect!
So your choice of smoking material in my opinion ( but I would lie in a court of law) is your better choice related to OVER ALL health of your body! (unless you are arrested and placed in prison and don't have Jesus tattooed on your back!)
If just talking lungs...is pretty much even unless you are smoking 20 Humps a day........and the fact that "the good stuff" is not physically addictive I still say its the wiser choice only related medical health issues!
Legally..........that would be another but............

Yes they will!! Stay the course. The withdrawal WILL end, you're just right in the middle of it. At MOST, it should take a week to start feeling better. I suggest you smoke weed. Unlike cigarettes, it's much more fun, stress-reliever, pain reliever, has MINIMAL withdrawal, no hangover, and LASTLY....

The government studies and all that commercial BS still havn't showed us one person who has died because they smoked weed!!

sorry for the ranty...

EDIT:: SMOKE WEED!! Don't listen to them!! Just don't shirk responsibility!!

Wonderful and stay off the cigaretts and you will begin to feel better, smell nicer and people just might like you more. I never smoked at all and think well it is a waste of money. Good luck and hey best wishes.

The damage is done, and your lungs will not heal.

Lay off the weed, kid. You're not helping your lungs any.
