Our Aussie is covered with Pets Best and we love them! Highest limits in the industry and no benefit schedule (the list that says that a company will only pay a certain amount for procedures, etc.). We wanted to know that when they said they were going to pay 80% after the deductible that they really would.

Try using complaints.com and consumeraffairs.com for good information, too. Good luck! You're smart to buy insurance before something comes up and is considered pre-existing.

I personally do not have pet insurance. But I would check into every aspect of the one you decide on if in fact you decide to get one. Most do not cover general or alot of the common ills/medication that your pet may need. Someone I know suggested taking the amount that I would be paying on a monthly premium and putting it aside in a seperate account (so not to spend it) just for my pets doctor/surgery/meds and saving it that way instead of getting insurance. I have done that and have quit abit saved "just in case" something comes up with my little guy. I just cannot see paying a premium and not having it cover what I need it to cover.( sorry for the book!)

VPI Pet insurance is the best and has a real short turnaround on reimbursement. I have worked as a vet tech for the past 20 years and they are the ones that have stood the test of time as well as they are easy to work with.

Go on line and look at" pet insurance review" It gives quite a few plans. Some are accident only. Some are accident and illness and some even pay for routine check up and spay/neuter. Call a few vets in your area to see if any one company stands out then see what they have for plans
