I hate the pill. Im taking it becuase My doctor said its the onyl thing that will be aprtial efective due to my sixe. When i was smaller i used the neuvo ring and i absolutely loved it. I did reaserch the pill and even confronted my doctor about it, i was reading that if your over 190 ounds its not effective, so whats the point for me. I dont want to get an iud, and the shot blew me up, so i follow his advise and take the pill ,use condoms, and spermicide. I also was told that the pill is a post fertilization durg, and that the companies dont realease this info due to people having abortion opinions, becuase if it truely is a port fertilization drug then it aborts the baby, becuase it does not work unitl you actually become fertilized. I ask my ob this , and he told me "not necessaritly" I read my insert, and havnt found much informaiton to support this, but its errie to know it could be happening

I'm currently taking the pill, but only for a short time. I am going in for surgery next week and we don't want to risk a pregnancy until we're given the all clear from the doctor. I had a miscarriage almost two months ago and we don't want to lose another child.
I have heard that there are newer and "better" options than the pill. I'm using the pill because it's something that I know. We had luck with not getting pregnant when I was taking the pill before we started trying to get pregnant last year (tooks us four months, she'll be 9 months old tomorrow!). It's something that I know, that I'm comfortable with. I know what to expect with the pill.
I'm not going to be on it for long. If this was going to be long term, I might consider newer options. Not too new, though, I don't like taking medications that haven't been on the market for too long.
Hopefully, I'll be able to come off of the pill before the end of the year.

I took the pill for years, and then I switched to the Fertility Awareness Method, in which you chart your temps, check your cervical mucus, and whatnot. This requires abstinence during fertile times. It worked very well. I'd choose that over any synthetic hormone-- people are not well educated about this and docs don't talk about the method much. Check out the book Taking Charge of Your Fertility.
After we had our third kid, my husband got a vasectomy. I thought I was done with birth control. Now I take the pill b/c my periods went crazy-- they were 16 days long, 4 of which were very heavy. This happened for 7 months. The choices were ablation, in which the uterus is essentially burned out of its lining-- I didn't qualify due to my iron counts still being high-- or the Pill. I don't take it as birth control; I take it as hormone control.

I take it to help regulate my hormones, thus regulating my period, as well as the birth control aspect. I don't find the pill a pain at all. In fact, I think it is very easy. I just take it at night with my other medication.
I went off of the pill for a while to see if i could do better without it, but after a few months , I went back to it because it helps regulate "things" so well.

I took the pill after my first because honestly I hadn't done any research. Now after having conceived on the pill and giving birth to my second I'm ready to start again. I'm now on a different pill. I'm taking it because after discussing it with me my doctor believes it to be the best for me. Everyone is different, their bodies react differently. Personally I trust my doctor and he's a good friend. If he says it right for me then I'll take it.

The pill did wonders for me. I used to suffer from horrible, painful cramps that kept me home all day. After using the pill, my periods have been copletely PAIN FREE! But, the pill gave me horrible migraines every week and lots of weight gain and blurred my vision. I've been off the pill since last December. Weight back to normal, vision getting better, and my periods are painful, but not nearly as bad.

I think people take the pill because the doctors push it on them because of the pharmaceutical companies..... it;s called being chemically dependent............ and the doctors are taking that to the bank....
