My husband made dinner tonight and just so happened to use a rusted pan... I did not want to turn down his food (him making food is a rarety), so I went ahead and ate it. It tasted good haha, I'm just concerned because I'm BREASTFEEDING also... Thanks for your help!

My folks used a cast iron pan that had some rust on it to make spaghetti sauce-- my dad said that added iron into it. I don't know if it's true, but I turned out okay (so far!) and have 3 healthy kids. Just have him scour the pan and dry it right away so it doesn't get rusty.

used to be alot of people had iron skillets and they did rust from the water, but now they say to season them with oil and rust should go away, but a rusty pan should be treated and cleaned well or dont use it.

You should be ok and so should the baby. Who couldn't use a little extra iron!!! LOL I suggest that you throw the pan away though.

What's done is done. However, you really should get rid of it and not repeat this again. Better safe than sorry. I'm sure you'll be fine... and so will your breastmilk.

That's not a good idea.Throw the pan out and buy a new one.If you get sick you'll know why.Seek medical help if needed.Good luck, and please don't do that again.
