I have suffered depression on and off for most of my life, I've been through the therapy..done the drugs etc...but I always somehow slide back to that place, any ideas as to what I can do to pull myself out? I feel so trapped and alone at times...

I was depressed alot when I lived in FL because I hated every minute of it...and I was born there, lol. I yearned to move to a nicer place with hills and lightening bugs and the little things that make you happy and so I moved to NC last month. I feel so much better and rather than sit inside all day miserable I take my son for a walk everyday and play outside with him. I actually feel bad about sleeping all day or taking a nap because it is so nice outside.

I dont even know a soul here but my son and I dont care. Would you consider moving? Think about all the things that make you miserable. Can you do anything about them? I figured out that I could. I have no job now and it sucks and I am freaking out as I desperately search for one but I can still take a deep breathe and relax in the shade :)

Email me if you want to :)

Like you, I can't remember a time that I wasn't troubled by depression. I even remember feeling it as a child. I have never taken meds., but done therapy off and on though it's been about 15 years since the last time.

I wish I had the answer for you. I have good times and some dark ones and I am not looking forward to heading into the dark winter here. I'm lucky in that I am not alone, I have a loving husband to support me.

I wonder if some kind of group would allow you to let go of the lonliness some of the time. For me, my faith has been a big comfort. I wish you well and hope you can find some relief.

An aside - I recently stopped drinking diet coke because someone suggested it could be causing some pain that I have. Well it didn't help the pain, but surprisingly, I have felt a marked improvement in the depression and feel as though I am thinking more clearly. Could be a coincidence, but I'll take it!!!

I too, have suffered from depression. I have seen many therapist and still see one today, I have done the drugs as well. I am not sure if you are religious or not but I can tell you that with God's help you can make it through it if you just hold on to God and not let him go. Believe that he is who he is and you will be fine. I am not going to tell you that you are going to see the results fast but you can and will feel better think of something positive. Take a look at what is it that keeps you falling into your mode and get to the root of the issue. Today I feel as though I have slipped back I see the signs but I am going to continue to go forward with this and trust God. I can tell you that God is doing great things in my life I yet still need help in areas of my life. You just have to get to the root of your issue and face it. Confide in someone, I can tell you from my experience that you can make it as I will make it. I take meds for my illnessn as well and when I don't take them I go back. Your meds are something you are going to need untill you are ready to get taken off by your doctor. I plan on being a Therapist someday. There is no one who can tell me how I am feeling unless they have been through what I have been through. I am not perfect but I can tell you that you can do it and be somebody great. I am telling you what I know not what I have read out of some book. You take care and hope that you are feeling better soon. Do you want to get better to help someone else? What do you like to do? What makes you special and different from others?Don't think you are alone in this just know that you are somebody special. Do you keep track of what makes you feel alone? if not do so and see what you get.

I have inherited clinical depression and a tendency toward psycho-depression. The clinical is handled by mild anti-depressants. The other was very hard to overcome as I had to change my thought patterns. The Serenity Prayer helped me tremendously:"God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I can not change, to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference." Please seek help when you feel depressed.God gave us others to help us.God Bless You.

You need to be connected to a support group. Depression will want you isolated. You need to be with people who are going through this too & who understand. See if you can find a support group in your area to help you stay consistent in your recovery.

I have had depression for 10 yrs and the only thing to do is find someone to make you happy and do things that make you happy. you have to talk about your feelings. and if you want to take medicine you have to follow the perscription dosage. you cant just take it when you feel like you need it. i was there. i slip back there every now and then but then i realize what i have to live for. it has been so bad that i just wanted to die. but if you need someone to talk to i am here my email is sms121086@yahoo.com.
