"Eist" works for me.
It's not that we despise religion, the issue is that the pathologically religious would deprive us of our US Constitutional right to not bother with religion. The religious nuts become so annoying that we must respond to protect our Constitutional rights. The right to freedom of choice in may things would be abridged by the pathologically religious.
Furthermore, the pathologically religious owe their ability to practice their insanity to the secular country in which they live. Few other countries except those in the European Union grant such rights.
Those who would turn a nation into a theocratic dictatorship are dangerous to democracy.

Despising religion is Ok...Despising God is a dangerous path. Don't let your hate of religion keep you from the truth of God. I too have despised religion for much of my life...my first reaction on 9/11 was anti-religion. I despised religion greatly for several years after. However I have since discovered the truth of Islam and feel much more at peace with the world.

Here is what Islam has taught me.

Every person who is and ever was and ever will be is an individual. All have their own paths to follow which while not predetermined are known by God. God has zero control over any individuals path and only offers instructions through his prophets for each to effect their path positively. Each will be accountable for their actions at the end of time and each will be judged. God does not have control over each persons individual scale of accountability (good and bad actions) and He is obligated to render judgment and justice (heaven or hell) to each according to the balance of their scale of accountability.

Peace be with you

Antitheist. Atheists do not believe in any god but they are not necessarily opposed to other people believing.
