I have seen what you are talking about, I don't know why they do this, I guess there are stupid Hispanic people, as well as smart Hispanic.
I think it is like how you see the gangsta rappers mimic prison inmates, so they look like they are tuff or rebels, yet you never see them get forced anal invasion in the shower during any of their videos.

They may be influenced by the current immigration issue going on right now. First generation Mexican Americans, are very influenced by their parents roots in Mexico and still speak Spanish and stick to very traditional Mexican lifestyles, ideas, etc., however, many have adapted into the American mainstream etc. Hopes this answers your question.

You mean they are chicano, but acting like they are Mexican? well obviously that is because their family is Mexican. Why should they completely disassociate from Mexico just because they are living here? We didnt, we made America "little England" and now people want to 8itch about it! LOL
