He could be telling you that he has a bladder infection of something is wrong. Most times a cat that has never sprayed is letting you know I am hurting or I am upset. You should take him to the vet to get checked. It would be a good Idea to have a blood panel and a urinalysis done. A cat that age is a senior citizen and can have things going on the inside that we can't see on the outside

All males of all different species, including humans, have a mid life crisis. I'm affraid that's what your cat is going through.

yes a trip too the vet is best my cat is 17 and just had his senior check up!!!

if you had him fixed to late like when he was already spraying and you get them fixed they can still spray
