StarTech VGAHD2HDMI component to HDMI. Does it really work for HDTV with only a DTV (YPrPb) component input? Or am I out of luck with my Mitsubishi HDTV, an older CRT rear-projection?

If I understand correctly you want to feed a digital signal to an HDTV with only a component input (no HDMI). If so, you are out of luck with this device since it's whole purpose is to convert a component video and analog stereo audio to HDMI. In other words, if you have component already you don't need the device.

This is probably just as well since I very much doubt the signal from the output of the Star Tech would be improved vis-a-vis the component signal (You can't get something for nothing). The main purpose would appear to be to allow a connection otherwise unavailable, and to reduce cable clutter.

It may be useful to note that component can give a picture as good as HDMI, so you are not necessarily missing anything (except the cost of another device). The only (almost) certain way to get a picture improvement would be a video scaler such as made by DVDO (or Lumagen, etc). But these are expensive ($500 -$3000+)
