It's lasted for over 200 years because they can change it whenever they want- be it add or subtract. Documents that vague tend to survive because it seems to encompass so much that nobody would want to fully dismantle it- just change a word or two or redefine what some things mean.

The real reason:

It's survived because we couldnt possibly get a group together of that size smart enough and wise enough to collaborate on a new document without it degrading into childish mud-slinging.

Will it survive? Tough to tell if the country will survive much less the Constitution.

not if the liberals have anything to say about it. I have never heard ( read ) such garbage and lies any where then in this yahoo forum from the democrats and liberals. they just love to spin spin spin, they do it so much they no longer know what the truth is any more. while you Lefty's pander to each other and feel oh so good because other idiots have jumped on your band wagon, I will continue to really make a difference in the world you take for granted.

Yes, it will survive. No one pays much attention to it except as a form of general guidelines. As such, it can mean anything anyone wants it to mean in a give era. People tend to look at as being advisory and not law. As far as Lt. Dan's accusations, I have seen just as much (if not more) spinning coming from the Conservatives.

It is time for a change. There are provisions in the present document that are flawed by the way they are being practiced.

Example: Why should a member of Congress, who is now earning $160,000.00+ a year salary for being a Congressman, be permitted to retire after one term and collect $160,00.00 a year in life-time retirement money? ( and have his wife continue to receive that retirement for the rest of her life, after he dies )? Congress wrote that extravaganza into law for themselves.

Where else do the employees tell the boss how much they are going to be paid and how their retirement is handled? That needs to be changed and soon.

The Constitution
Baseball
Jazz Music.

They are 3 of the most beautiful and complex things Man has ever produced and they are exclusively AMERICAN.

Only if we have a Pres who understands what freedom means. Also, we need justices on the Supreme Court who do what is just, not what the Pres wants them to do.

Why has it lasted? It is a well-written, genius piece of work. Will it continue to last? Not as long as BOTH parties in power continue to use it as toilet paper!
