Small dogs come into heat about every 8 to 9 months, the do not need a male to come into heat. The things that you have to worry about is an infection called pyometra. I would have her checked by your regular vet. Sometimes they can develop this and not show signs until they are really sick. If she is a small chihuahua I would consider spaying her. Breeding is risky for this breed

You should take your pet to the vet. You are describing a illness that can be deadly. I was told this illness will come with no other signs and you will just loose your pet. The only fix is to get them fixed.

Heat is after the menstration. This is when the female will produce a smell so strong that a male can smell her from up to 5 miles away. I can tell when a female around my home is in heat. My male gets this ugly smile and runs around the house going crazy. But this has no effect on the female.

Spay the dog as soon as possible. Unspayed older female dogs are prone to terrible infections of the uterus and breast cancer. Breeding chihuahuas is a task for a professional breeder - the tiny size of chihuahuas makes it difficult for them to whelp normally. If you spay your dog, she'll be much happier and healthier and you'll have her for a much longer life.

Too late for what ??---to create more puppies that shouldn;t be ----to create more dogs that need a home and won't find one----to add to the already overpropulated dog community----get your dog spayed, that is the kind thing to do. Do you know your dog can get cancer from NOT beign spayed----if you want to see the great miracle of birth--------go the your local shelter---you will see lots of dogs having puppies that will never have a home.
