what i would do:
do not pop the zit unless it has come to a white head. and using toothpaste will only give you a dry itchy patch
put lemon juice on it. it is the only home remedy that i a know of that acually works. squesse a few drops on before you sleep it should be gone or reduced by the time you wake up

Hope this helps

Never put toothpaste on a zit! I don't know why that horrible advice is so common. Once I put toothpaste on a big zit on my cheek and when I woke up the next morning it had turned so purple and scabby that I looked like I had Robert DeNiro's mole.

What's worked best for me is to not pop it, just use a q-tip to put on some rubbing alcohol on it and that shrinks it. Even a giant zit will shrink and go away after a couple of days. And this won't cause scarring.

Never pop a pimple, I know I know we all do it. But there is an area on the face called the butterfly zone and infection in that are are very serious. Actually has nerve endings talking about making things worse.

My niece is an RN too and she popped a pimple and the next day the area was the size of a quarter, red, hot, hard and she ended up on antibiotics for two weeks and looking a lot worse than if she had just left it alone. Nothing is worth that risk.

What happens is when you squeeze not all of the drainage comes out and some of it is forced down into the tissue instead of out. Since a pimple is a plugged hair follical and full of bacteria it is almost instant infection.

Warm compress, antibiotic cream and hands off.

Aaahh!! I hate when zit happens!

Apply warm compresses. This opens up the pores. Rub in an antibacterial ointment. Repeat every 15 minutes or so. Apply toothpaste before going to bed.

To pop or not to pop... that is your decision. In either case, have some hydro cortisone cream handy and lightly rub that into the skin that's red and inflamed, avoiding open and draining areas.

Good luck.

It'd be a mistake to put toothpaste on an open wound of any sort - ouch!

You put toothpaste on it tonite, cover it with a bandaid, and hope that it goes down.

Popping is never a good idea - it can lead to scarring, infection, discomfort, and an even worse looking red sore.

when you wanna use toothpaste for a zit, you pop it first and then apply the toothpaste and leave it on over night....the toothpaste draws out the puss and dries up the zit....but you really shouldn't pop it, leave it alone.

NO! Get some lipstick and draw bulls-eye on the bathroom mirror, stand back 10 feet and let her rip. Then put finger nail polish remover on it, you will be surprised that in the morning you will not be able to tell you had one at all, unless it was the kind that broke the mirror,

Finger nail polish remover is an old Hollywood make up artist secrete! I just put the bulls-eye in cause it would be fun to do,
