I really like this girl and i think she likes me too, but we are both really shy. I wanted to try to get her attention because I want to hint to her that I like her. Would smiling and waving to her while passing through the hall be a bad idea? If anyone has any better ideas it would be apreciated...

No that's a nice way but you can also walk up to her and just say Hello or on a Monday ask her how her weekend was or ask her what's she's gonna be doing on the up coming weekend and if she's free would she like to go to the mall or movies with you. This one always works though, after you say Hello then give her a compliment on her hair, tell her that her hair looks nice today. girls love that

You have less than nothing to lose by smiling and waving. Honestly, just get up the courage to ask her out, but make sure to let her know that even if she says no, it won't affect your friendship.
