Does anyone know if the texas dps is open on the ninth of october cause that day is columbus day. I am guessing they are closed but i want to make sure. I dont want to have to skip part of school just to get my license renewed and wait in a very long line.

Columbus Day is not an official state holiday for Texas governmental offices. Unless you are under 18 or have done so the last time you renewed, you can renew by mail. Also, some DPS offices aren't as busy as others, don't know where you are, but if there is a smaller town with a DPS office, sometimes, those aren't as busy. I'm in Houston, so the are all busy, but if you get there right after the lunch hour, you sometimes can get in and out. After school is a no-go.

Isn't Boxing Day a Canadian holiday???? I believe that the DPS, along with all other govt offices, will be open tomorrow. Merry Christmas!
