you can still get a job pretty much anywhere. don't worry if you can't find one right off the bat - you're better off broke than in the military!

With an "Honorable Discharge" you can get a job wherever you want as long as you have the skills for that job. But if it is anything other than an Honorable Discharge, then you will really have a tough time. No government jobs, no state or local jobs with law enforcement. No jobs that run a background check, which is pretty much everywhere now. Might be able to get one at a corner store or something, but nothing that is going to pay what you need to stay above water. Hope this helps.

If it is "for the good of the service" then you can get a job, but it might indicate that you are a "goof off" and be difficult to find a job.
Open a business of your own. There is good money in landscaping, snow removal, auto repair or the building trades. Any of the jobs that require a license you won't be able to do unless you are taken on as an apprentice. Carpentry or a brick laying job as a helper might work for you. Roofing could be good too.

Are you saying you're getting a dishonorable discharge? From what I've read and people I've talked to over the years, most employers will be reluctant to hire you--depending on what your infraction was, of course. You may want to look into vo-tech training, community college classes, or a full-time school. Even then, you may have a strike against you.

A lot of ex-military people do well in the culinary field. A kitchen is something like a military environment, but if you prove yourself no one cares where you came from or what you did in your past. Try it, you might like it.
