Artists can think that their art is more important than faith or relationships. The beauty of art is a great mystery but should art be subordinated to the higher goal of loving one another.

Thank you for reminding us. If we're not careful, we end up just loving ourselves, exploring ourselves with our art. It's very sad. That's why, to be an artist who really impacts the world for the better, one must be well-rounded physically-mentally-spiritually and socially, as you said, and have important thoughts of other kinds coming in and love and goodwill going out. .

One could say that most great artists are guilty of a certain solipsism. The importance of faith and relationships varies from person to person; for some, the drive to greatness is simply more important than finding love. Some people would rather be remembered than loved.

It's a passion. I am glad it's a passion for art and not ...say.... money, like those Enron pricks. Nor is it a passion for imposing my faith upon others or a passion for hedonism or a passion to win at any cost.
I think artists can get involved in process but almost always end up with a product and can once again lift their heads and see the world around them in a good, tho often new, perspective.
