if this was a square, 1 foot wide and 1 foot long
__

it would be a square foot. square feet would be two or more of them. 1200 would be 1200 of them.
Also, some robots have square feet, but in this case they don't have to have 1 X 1 dimensionality. (love the square inches answer - classic).

its usually heated floor space. that is not a large home. if you wont to compare homes go to where they keep the country records . look up homes that have sold in your area. you can see for yourself what square footage. people have and how many bedrooms they have and also if you won t you can get. ow. ten homes figures.from homes that have sold in your area. add all the price of the homes together all the square footage. and divide the $ into the footage and you will come up with the average cost per square foot in your area. this is how they appraise homes. make sure it is heated space you figure though .

Normally it is living space, not closets or garage. it also never includes a basement unless noted it does. A 1200 sq ft home is not a big home. It will depend how many people are living there.

all depends on the apprasier , it could be 1200 h/c which means only the heating and cooling ( living space) is counted or it could be 1200 under the roof which includes things like porches, garages, etc.
