If there is a homeless program there, volunteer there especially if there are kids. Sometimes children who are homeless have more problems than children who have a place to live.

Homeless people are sometimes treated like criminals. Imagine how that feels to a child. Sometimes just having someone fun to talk to is a good thing for them to look forward to. Also, parents have a very hard time trying to pull out of their situation.

Volunteers who care for people are always needed. If your town doesn't have a homeless program why not make a suggestion to the local church. They may need to go out and find people in need if there are none in the town.

There are enough people in need for everyone to help.

Good question.

The American Red Cross is a great way to help communities large and small. You can learn to be a disaster volunteer both in your community, and around the world. You never know whose life you might save!

Go door to door offering to rake leaves (you might want to organize some friends to help). Find your locall soup kitchen or food bank, they always need help. You could organize a road-side litter pick up.

Don't waste your time, good citizenship is not appreciated, its a total waste of time, its better to do nothing at all so your city needs to hire and pay people to do things, that way they don't have as much money to waste annoying you with their stupid little rules.
