If you truly love your cat, you will want him around for a long time. To keep him healthy, it is in his best interests to keep him at a healthy weight. I have lost an overweight cat that could have lives several more years, if he was not so overweight. Watching him huff and puff after a little exertion broke my heart.

You don't have to deprive your cat of treats. Limit the treats to a healthy low fat cat treat (not human food) once a day. I do that with cats now and they look great at 8 years old. One of them will beg for more, but he knows I won't give in.

Treats for animals are as damaging as they are to us if over indulged. Animals, just like humans, need good nutrition. Your cat cannot make these choices, please be a sensible owner and give you cat good food, i.e., like Science Diet. Thank you!

Naaaaaa it's alright to make him happy. Just cut it back a little, but it might be bad for him and give him psychological problems if you cut it completely out of his diet. He won't know why your doing it..... :-)

You can give delicious foods but not too much.

By the way, you are in the wrong category.

Only if you think shortening your cat's life is an expression of love.

If you see nothing wrong with killing him slowly, then no.
