I would guess that the percentage of people who should be considered legally insane is similar amongst religious and non-religious population groups.

If you tell a shrink you believe in a person that nobody else can see, that he talks to you, and that he does special things for you, and that he tells you what to do with your life, you'll be committed to a mental institution as insane.
Unless, of course, the make-believe person you're referring to is jesus or god or mohammed, in which case you're just considered ignorant and stupid, not insane. Why is beyond me...

I think the focus should be on all the crazy people robbing, raping and murdering. There are some religious people that take it too far, but if they are living peaceful lives, I say leave them alone. If their religion is to murder or commit a crime, yes we need to lock them up.
