Exercise creates endorphins; feel good chemicals. Fitness will make you feel better, more empowered and look better.
Those with mental illness need to feel and look better.

Some people with mental illness have very serious depression, and for some suicidal thoughts. Excercise is good for the mind and improves those with mental illness, so yes there are benefits.

working out and exercising releases endorphins into the body / blood stream. these guys are the things that make you feel so good when you are exercising and feel so good afterwards.

when you have a mental illness .. and i'm speaking about depression at the moment, your body lacks making certain chemicals in the brain ~ seretonin and dopamine.

working out causes the endorphins to take the place of seretonin and dopamine. we all know that exercise is good for you physically and emotionally ... most, if not all, therapists and psychiatrists would recommend exercise for their patients who suffer from depression .. because it helps.

it is not a cure .. but it definitely improves a persons' overall outlook on themselves and on life.
