Is that for a half hour? I pay $45 per hour for my voice lessons. My teacher has her doctorate. How much education does the teacher have? How much teaching experience? $17.00 is a pretty good deal, though. Rates are different all over the country. I know I would have to pay a lot more if I lived on either coast or closer to a large metropolitan area.

Voice Teachers will charge what they think is Worth it for their services. More teaching and Performing experience and higher level degree more money they will charge.

Another factor is the state or area you live. I states like CA or NY people pay like 75.00 to 80.00 for half an hour lesson. Between 100.00 to 175.00 or more for a full hour session.

Of course if your teacher is a famous, well known teacher or singer in the music business his/her price would be very high. Ex. Seth Riggs he is a famous voice teacher in CA and he charge over 300.00 dollars for one hour session.

If your voice teacher charges you $17.00 for 30 minutes class, well he/she thinks that is worth it for his/her services then is OK. That doesn't mean he/she is a bad or good teacher. I have friends who have paid a lost of money to an Opera Voice teacher in NY, and they were not happy with the work she did.

So, to close my answer, if you feel comfortable with your voice teacher and if he/she knows what is he/she doing then feel blessed to pay $17.00 for a good voice technique class. If not, then run away and find a good teacher who you fell comfortable working with.

For how long? Is this what you're paying someone? What are their qualifications? I pay my daughter's voice coach $60 per 1 hour lesson. He has a masters degree in vocal performance though, and has performed professionally.
