I know i know this was REALLY stupid but I asked the lady if it was going to go on my record, I didnt want to ask anymore questions, i was pretty embarrassed, but will I have to put this on my job applications? Im leaving to germany and im leaving to Germany with my fiance thats in the army and we are getting married in a couple of weeks, will the army say something about this? they also said that im going to pay double for what i took and some state fees and maybe penalties, does anybody know what this is and is this something to really worry about? She told me I didnt have to go to court for this.

I gotten caught stealing before but I wasn't stealing it was about when I was 4 though My dad thought I was stealing gum but I wasn't I had it in my hand about to ask him if he would buy it for and he assumed I was stealing it. I don't think you should worry about it to much.

Well, try to be honest about it. If you were arrested and the case isn't settled yet--sometimes you can go and talk to the prosecutor, and arrange a plea bargain. Pay for the item(s), and requests that the charges be dropped, or that within a certain time frame--say a year--if you are clean, can it be wiped off your record. They do this sometimes for first offenders. Good luck.
Edit--if you didn't have to go to court, were you arrested? If not, then it probably won't be on your record.

No, I never stole anything.

You don't have to mention it until you are asked. It won't affect your fiance. Your fiance's record is not your record. Yes, this is something to worry about. Pretty much, it will be with you for many years, if not for the rest of your life in US. Court has nothing to do with it, she's right. Shoplifting is a serious crime in the US.
