St. Maarten, Netherlands Antilles is part of a group of caribbean island (Saba, Statia, Curacao, Bonaire) that is still under the Netherlands. As of July 1, 2007 (hopefully) there will no longer be a Netherlands Antilles. All the islands will be dealing with the Netherlands direct. Right now Curacao is the head island of the Netherlands Antilles.

Sint Maarten/Netherlands Antilles is part of the Netherlands.
The other side of the island, St. Martin/French West Indies is part of France.

Saint Martin/Sint Maarten is a single island split between France and the Netherlands. The Netherlands Antilles is a group of islands of which this is one.

With an area of only 37 square miles, the island of St. Maarten/St. Martin is the smallest land mass in the world to be divided between two governments. Its dual owners are the Dutch and the French, who have shared the tiny and paradisical island more or less peacefully for almost 350 years.
