Ice cream and sherbert aren't formulated for dogs, so some dogs with sensitive stomachs may not digest them very well.
A better choice is "Frosty Paws," which was formulated just for dogs. You can find Frosty Paws in the freezer section of many grocery stores, and it comes in little plastic cups that look like the individual ice cream servings for people.
My dogs have all loved the stuff and will slurp it until their eyes glaze over.

yes and No, It is not safe for animals to eat it, However if your pet has had it and no side effects have happened a little bit here and there should be ok. Some dogs that have just a little bit of human food can upset there digestive system enough to become very sick, I just went through it with a pom., that eats everything . she was on meds for over a month.

Most dogs are lactose intolerant after 1 year of age. They shouldn't be fed any dairy. But a tiny bit, like a small spoonful won't hurt them. And if your dog has accidentally eaten a whole tub or something, be ready for barfing. XD

I have heard nothing to put a stop to you feeding your dog sherbet ice cream. If it likes it let it have a little. Just remember that a fat dog is a very unhealthy dog and they can also get diabetes. Just like children, liking it doesn't make it good for you.

It won't hurt as long as it is not very often because its easy to get a fat dog when you feed them sweets. And just like us, it is not good for their teeth. The sherbert is lower fat, but it still has alot of sugar.

In a cone: Lick and nibble continueously. In a cup: Stir it to the point it look like milk instead of ice-cream. Hahaha. :P

Only if you want to give him/her a tummyache. :-/ The little breeds are more sensitive to that than the larger breeds...but it upsets their tummies, too (even if you don't see signs of it.)
If you just HAVE to give something like that, the Frosty Paws suggestion is a good one.
