When you have an experience, and you feel like a certain passage of the Bible really explains it. But someone says, no you're not interpreting it correctly.
Not just doctrinal things, all kinds of things. Friendships, family issues, whatnot. When a passage really speaks to you in a certain way, but people say you're wrong.

your interpetation is the most important,it is on YOUR LEVEL OF EXPERIENCE. YOUR POINT OF SPIRITUAL GROWTH. I have heard people share their spiritual experience and it is obvious God has moved them in a big way. the exp. made no sense to me at all but i could see they understood exactly what GOD expressed to them. YOUR relationship with GOD is yours alone. the song,In the garden comes to my mind I can see you there alone with GOD as he tells you that you are his own. LOVE

That's the point with the bible. You can make it say virtually anything. No wonder people say the bible predicted things. It's so vague that one and the same passage may be claimed to predict the tsunami or the Y2K effect.

Anyway, if it works for you, and you feel you got a message, who cares where it came from, or how you arrived at a particular conclusion? The important thing is you got there, and now you have something to think about.

Yeah that's a tough one and it's really personal. I've always felt as though God speaks to people in different ways. I don't think there is any one way to interpret the bible. That why most people can find a passage to support pretty much anything. I would pray about it and then meditate and wait for God to answer. Don't let others tell you how to interpret the bible, unless it's clergy. Their interpretation may just be for them and not for you.

To me it is interpreted differently because we all go through different things and come from different places. Someone growing up poor will have a different interpretation than someone growing up rich. Your view isn't wrong, it's just your point of view. The book is holy and when you read it you relate to it personally and it should guide you to where you want to be and what you should be doing with your life. I say some opinions of the text are bull, but I respect them none the less. But just have faith and you'll be fine, the text is liek any other book. It can be interpreted differenty by everyone there is no right or wrong answer ,except for things like the commandments which are clearly listed out. Hope it helped. Holla Peace ~1~

It's also important to seek counsel from others. Whenever I have a question about something, I would go to my pastor. If he wasn't available, I would choose someone whom I highly respected and I knew respected me. If I was wrong it the way I interpreted something they would let me know in a loving and graceful way.

People do interpret the Bible differently, but it doesn't mean that every way is correct

Knowing this first, that no, prophecy of the Scripture is of any private interpretation. 2 Peter 1:20

The Bible is God's way of talking to us. His "Little Instruction Book." He address our many and various needs with that one book. My needs are different than yours, so the same passage may be telling me one thing and you another, but it still speaks to us both.

If someone is telling you that you are wrong when you are feeling God speak to you through His word, you should kindly and gently explain to them that God says many things to many people with the same words. Unless one of you is trying to twist the passage to justify immorality or sin, then there is no reason you can't both be right.

Make sure you're putting the passages in context.

1. Who is doing the speaking (in the passage) and to whom is he speaking?
a. An ancient prophet of God
d. A king (psalms)
c. Christ himself
d. An apostle (usually writing a letter to a new church)

2. What did it mean to the readers/listeners of the day? (Think about their times and their culture and customs).

3. What does it mean to us today?

Be careful of what your feelings tell you. God wants you to think with your head, as well as feel with your heart. Keep studying and asking questions! :)

the bible is interpreted in many different ways by many different people. If the meaning you found in reading that passage makes sense to you then that's all that matters

Yes .... and no.

Lots of people misinterpret the Bible, it's the main conflict here sometimes.

BUT, as long as what you are getting from the Bible is not taken out of context of the story relayed, then perhaps God is speaking to you directly about a situation in your life.

I have had that very thing happen to me. I just tell them that the bible is alive and sharper than any two edged sword. God can give me a revalation about something that I need, but not show it to someone else. I have the Holy Spirit to tell me if I am receiving properly.
