She's just getting comfortable. She should have a blanket in there. Smokey ( my pug ) is always moving his blankets aaround to make things more comfortable for himself.

Your dog may have many reasons for digging in her crate. To start off if she is a female she could be in heat other wise it could be something else. One, she could not be comfortable in the cage. If it is a large cage for a her size, she may fee it is too much room for her. In the other hand, if it is too small she could feel cramped and uncomfortable. Also, it could not be the correct type of crate for a dog. If the crate is wire, and is open like a bird cage, i suggest putting a blanket over it, or buying a new one. In addition, if there is a food dish inside the crate, she may be digging to find fallen pieces of food at the bottom. Last, your dog may just be digging to become comfortable. Overall, I wouldn't worry much about it if it is an excessive problem.

How long has she been in her crate? She needs out for a while if she has been in there for an extended length of time. Exercise her. Then give her some chew toys or something to play with when you put her back into her crate. Have you taken her out to the potty? Check on these things. Sounds like she is bored.

She is trying to build a "nest"...that is their once wild instincts coming out. She is stirring up the blankets in an attempt to make it more comfortable for her...

She's nesting. Trying to make it a home - a den. Give her some blankets or towels so she can arrange her place. It will give her peace.

Is she pregnant or having a false pregnancy?? Nesting is one sign that puppies are coming, or that she thinks they are if having a false pregnancy.

she wants out. maybe she feels too confined or she thinks shes being punished. maybe she just needs some time to get used to it. if she doesnt adjust soon you should call your vet for some advice.
