what would you do with 30 inbred cats that are wild, living out in the country. They are not used to humans, so catching them is out of the question! Would you have shot them all, like my hillbilly friend did. Or would u have spayed and neutered the mama and the pappa??

You can catch feral cats in a trap quite easily. I have done it many times. It is very easy. Then, you either get them spayed and neutered, or euthanized.
Yes, they should have been taken care of long before now, but there are still ways to take care of the situation.

I actually work at a cat shelter and we run a spay and neuter clinic. A lot of people think that there are tons of organizations waiting to adopt these type cats. This is not true. Our shelter cannot afford to foot the bill for this kind of rescue and would not know what to do with the cats if we did. Any shelter that says they would take in 30 feral cats is not telling you how many they would euthanize. No shelter can provide adequate care for that many ferals. At best, they would be fixed and dumped back out someplace. I think the TNR programs are mostly a waste of time. They are also a waste of funds that can save and treat many more adoptable cats.

That is very upsetting for me to hear. I love cats and if I knew of any like that I would gladly adopt them and get them spayed/neutered, medical care, and start feeding them. There are many people all over the world who are doing that for feral cats and I think thats wonderful. There are organizations that are based on just that. I wonder if your "hillbilly friend" would have bothered to call someone like that or if he just killed them for his pleasure.

I'm not saying that it's not occassionally neccesary but in some states shooting them is illegal. you'll get quit a fine if you're caught, possibly worse. Cats are considered Free Range Predators. Spaying doesn't help if the lazy people have learned that this is the spot to dump their cats. You'd go broke trying to keep them all fixed and healthy by yourself.

WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH ALL YOU PEOPLE? WHY ARE YOU EVEN PN THIS SITE IF YOU ARE GOING TO BE JERKS INSTEAD OF HELPING!!!! I volunteer at a shelter that rescues cats like this. I'm not sure what area you live in but I am sure there is one by you. Look on the internet for cat societys in your area, they would gladly come out and rescue all these poor little kitties. If you are willing to tell me what are it is you live in I could help you find someone to come out and trap them. Dont worry trapping is humane it doesnt hurt them at all. They walk in and the door closes they do not get hurt in the process. Please dont shoot them that is sick and no one has the right to take any life, human or animal. Please do this the right way and call in people that are willing to help.. Good Luck!!! :)

all of us who has followed a cat from a protect has a probability of possessing a kitten that has been the effect of inbreeding. Negligent vendors like your self are the reason behind this, such is why it really is had to spay and neuter your animals at the same time as they are of perfect weight and age. I own 2 breeder-bred cats and one kitten from a protect. For all i recognize the kitten stands out as the effect of inbreeding, yet in the different case he's revealing no abnormalities, genetic mutations, hereditary diseases, and his habit is totally perfect for a kitten his age. First technology inbreeding gained't effect in mutations or genetic defects, usually. It does at the same time as the second one and third technology inbreeding will you start up to work out negative mutations and neurological complications contained in the muddle. Get your animals spayed and neutered. supply up with the cruelty and negligence.

Some believe in the TNR programs, (trap, neuter and release). The cats are set up in colonies and volunteers regularly feed them. Others believe feral cats should be trapped and euthanized to remove the possibility of rabies.

Spaying the male and female is a good start, but what about the offspring when they become sexually mature?

I would hope your friend's method was quick and relatively painless.

You would have had to desex the whole 30, not just the original male and female.
Catching is just a matter of setting (humane) cat traps. The traps dont kill them, just catch them.

I recommend that you invite the local Humane Society officers over for dnner.
You can serve them Chow Har Ding (you'll have lots of meat from 30 animals).
After dinner, you can ask them how to keep wild cats from nesting on your place.

I'd shoot my hillbilly friend and let the cats run wild. If they're already wild and not bothering anyone,**** it.
