I am trying to maintain my current weight of 189 pounds. I have lost 80 pounds in the last year and want to maintain my weight. Please advise seriously if you have lost weight and maintained it. Not looking for diets but a healthy eating style.

Congratulations on your weight loss. Losing 80 pounds is a great accomplishment. Maintaining your weight will be easier than losing weight but you will still have to pick and choose wisely.

When it comes to eating healthy it can be overwhelming to choose between all the food options. There are specific foods that can help improve work-out performance, weight loss, maintaining weight and your overall health. Below I have listed some of the best foods to incorporate in your new eating regimen.

Bananas – The perfect on the go snack. Bananas are rich in potassium which is good for regulating blood pressure and also a good source of fiber. Bananas can also be used as a natural antacid.

Beef (lean) – Is a great source of zinc, protein and iron. When buying beef choose round, flank and chuck cuts and trim all of the excess fat prior to coking. Broil or bake the beef on a rack to keep the meat from cooking in its fat.

Beans – A great source of fiber. Beans are high in protein and a good source of folic acid, a B vitamin good for building protein and red blood cells.

Broccoli – You can never go wrong with broccoli, its one of the most nutritious of vegetables! Broccoli contains high levels of vitamin C and fiber while providing folic acid, calcium, magnesium and iron. How could you not love broccoli!

Although I have listed broccoli as it's own category, you should be eating plenty of vegetables daily. Steamed is best but as long as your don't add butter or any type of high calorie sauces and don't fty in oil any method will do. Vegetables will add fiber, vitamins andd minerals.

Brown Rice – If you love carbohydrates and you just can’t give them up, switch your regular white rice for brown rice. Brown rice provides twice as much fiber in comparison to white rice. And it also includes nutrients that white rice doesn’t have such as zinc, protein, selenium and more.

Chicken – Three ounces of skinless chicken breast is only three grams of fat and it contains vitamin B6 which is essential for metabolizing protein. Most people believe that skin fat does not make the meat fat! You can cook the chicken with the skin and remove before serving. Cooking the chicken with the skin helps to keep the meat moist.

Grapes – Oh how I love my grapes and like bananas they are the perfect on the go snack! Grapes are a good source of boron which is a mineral that helps building and maintaining healthy bones.

As with the broccoli, all fruits in abundance is perfect.
Since apples are in season now is the time to add 3 apples to your daily food intake. The apples will fill you up and add very little calories. When ever you feel like splurging on one of your favorite treats, eat an apple first. You'll then eat half as much but will still be 100% satisified.

Oatmeal – Is the perfect source of soluble fiber. Studies have shown that adding 2 ounces of oatmeal to your diet daily can lower blood cholesterol in just a few weeks!

Potatoes – Potatoes have more health benefits than most people realize. Aside from a complex carbohydrate, a 6 ounce potato provides double the amount of potassium than that of a banana. Potatoes are also a good source of copper. A note about potatoes...some people who are on low gi diets do not believe in eating any potatoes but others think that they are absolutely fabulous for not only maintaining your weight but also when you are trying to lose weight. So it kind of depends on which side of the potato you are on whether or not you want to add them to to diet.

Salmon – An omega-3 fatty food that helps prevent heart disease. Adding salmon to your diet weekly can significantly improve your health.

Water – Is one of the most important nutrients within your body and it is needed for everything to run well. Just think of it like this – your automobile needs gas to run and your body requires water to function at its best and to stay healthy. The average person should consume 8 glasses of water per day and if you are active you should up that amount of water to make up for sweating during activity.

Good luck with your new eating lifestyle...sine you are already over the hard part you should do just fine.
Again , congratulations!

It's a matter of input and output. The higher number of calories or kilojoules you take in, the higher the number of calories or kilojoules you need to burn off to maintain your weight and body shape. Of course, junk food contains more cals or kjs than other types of food, so if you really want to keep eating it, you have to be prepared to exercise enough to burn the extra energy. Have a good look at the labels on the food packets to see just how much work you need to do. At least then you can make an informed choice about whether you want to eat it or not.

I will try to keep it simple. Your metabolism is basically the rate at which your body burns calories to create energy. So the faster your metabolism, the faster you burn calories and the easier it is to lose unwanted weight. To boost your metabolism naturally you just need to eat the right foods.

You can sit down and literally eat a 1,000-calorie dinner and yet be absolutely starving just a few hours later and the reason is simple: Because your body didnt get what it needed in those 1,000 calories so it sends signals to your brain telling you to ingest more calories and thus, the late-night cravings. That means that the surest way to end those late-night cravings and keep your weight loss goals on track is to eat a more balanced, nutritious diet that actually gives your body what it needs.

It's VERY EASY to lose weight if you eat the right foods. Check out Dr. Charles Livingston's video here: http://www.sexyjese.com - it will blow your mind.

Avoid sweets and sugar as much as possible. But quite honestly, for weight maintenance the best and absolute way to go is moderation. Small portions and healthy snacks several times a day to keep your metabolic rate working well is the trick. And don't forget to drink sensible amounts of water.

try and stay away from prepackaged food of all kinds, go whole grains (bread and pasta), go with good fats omega-3. Stay walking or what ever you do to workout. You might have to change that up from time to time. Your body will get used to it. COngrats on the weight loss, keep up the good work. Your life is worth it, not just for you but those that love you. I eat alot of cereal, not the sugar kind. I don't eat flour or sugar, eat only wheat bread. I do eat out but try to watch it the rest of the day. I just tell myself, "I know what this tastes like, I don't have to eat it." I drink alot of sugar free hot chocolate and diet pop and water. Pretzels are a good snack for me. You have to have alot of will power especially during dining out or celebrations that revolve around food. I just keep telling myself, it's worth not tasting the food to keep my weight how it is. Food can do alot of damage, I gain quick. I just try to remember how I feel in my smaller jeans, and that I can do it!
